I hope this is the right place to post this
But I need advice on shipping fish
& more specifically bichirs & plecs around 6"

Thanks for your help!

1 fish per bag (2 bags per fish as insurance), more air than water per bag (unless you use breathable bags), maybe a Bag buddy in each bag, 24 hour delivery, bags must be "very" tightly secured with multiple rubber bands, all in a tightly taped styro.
Cost to ship large fish will be significant.

Info is posted in the Sticky at the top of the forum HERE

Just scan down the page to find the info you need.

Fish may be alive after 2 days or more, but each day lessens the chance of live arrival.
Plecos have a sharp spine, so each hour hastens the chance of a pierced, dry bag.
The bast carrier is the one that provides and guarantees the fastest service to whatever city.
I have used the US post office, and Fed Ex and had good and bad experiences with both.
With the post office, if they guarantee arrival by a certain time, and it is late, you get the shipping fee back.
The best is airport to airport, but that has a set up process that is really only worth it for commercial shipping. With airport to airport, fish can arrive in as little as a few hours.

Local aquarium clubs are great places to start, and get info.
Styros can be had a pet stores, from people who get medications shipped to them, or even fish markets.
