Need help! Something tiny is living in my tank.

What kind of filter and media are you using? I had a planaria outbreak a couple of years ago and I had gravel substrate with a large sump full of pot scrubbies. I ended up going bare bottom and stirring the pot scrubbies every week. I would even take them out and squeeze them out. It took months before they went away. You can always put some bala sharks in the tank as they will eat them or even clown loaches. I would assume your ray is still small so just get ones large enough the ray can't eat them.

I had an outbreak of planaria one time. Had a couple of new rays, overfeeding trying to make sure they got some. Mine looked like tiny black fleas jumping all over the substrate. Had sand for substrate. I backed off on the feedings stirred up the sand and did a WC. then got a small pictus catfish (he helped take care otf the planaria and eats leftovers). No more planaria. Don't think they hurt anything, but the rays didn't like em...seemed to drive them crazy.

Yeah the ray is still really small so I'll just pick up one or two clown loaches as long as they wont bother the stingray

Salt is a very important tool for raykeepers. All life-forms need salt to regulate cellular osmosis.

Frat hazing now has kids dieing of dehydration from trying to drink 5 gallons of water as fast as they can... the water has no saline content..the body loses it's ability to regulate water within the cell walls and all water is expelled. Dehydration from drinking 5 gallons of water...who'da thunk it?

Normally it isn't a huge problem because even though "not necessary" there is almost always some sodium content in water and/or in the feeds we use.

I don't always add salt...but have added the full 4lb per 10g and they always love it....for the most part though, I rely on the little bit of salt that my water softener leaves behind.

Not trying to de-rail or change your opinion..just bringing up info that you can think about and research...but back to what I was saying...salt kills planaria dead. That's all.
