Need help taming my 12" Savanah Monitor

i had a 51/2 foot water moniter that was tame as sh*t, would just sit there when u cut his nails, then one day grabbed my thumb, felt like a vice and shocked the sh*t out of me, down to the bone and 6 stitches and a nasty looking scar that I see everyday 10 years later. Tame my a** , docile & well fed maybe but never tame. Always don't let your guard down. My two cents
