I was given a tank that is 60 inches long, 13.5 inches wide, 21 inches tall. i have no idea how many gallon this is. My first question is do anyone here know roughly about how many gallons?

My second question is what to stock it with? i like aggressive cichlids. Im not into the african cichlids. It will be a permint home. Looking for some suggestions that this tank can house confy in. I know its not very wide so that limits the options down. I already own an Tiger Oscar, Gold Saum, Jack dempsey, Pearsei, Blood Parrots, Bolivian rams, Silver Dallors, Bluegill, Striped Rapheal Catfish, Sailfin pleco, and channel catfish. Of course they already have their homes i just want something differant for the new tank. I look forward to hearing some sugustions. Thanks :headbang2

Top of the page there is a conversions link that is helpful, says 73.74gallons.

As for fish, are you planning on buying online or locally? If locally as most i would go to the pet shops and see what is avaible. Take notes and research the fish for size and compatibilty cause the pet store poeple aren't helpful usually.

thanks.

still not sure what to put i it though... lol every fish i like to get seems to get longer then the tank is wide. :(

If you're into smaller, aggressive cichlids, I'd go with convicts and other related fish like Sajica, as well as Jewels.

length x width x height in inches divided by 231 gives you the number of gallons. also there is a conversion page on this site somewhere.

tankmates:
Get payara if you're up to the challenge
of not then settle for a school of piranhas or exodons if piranhas are illegal in your area

thats always the annoying part about narrow long tanks.. imho these tanks are great for aquascapeing to a degree.. and make nice schooling fish set-ups. YOu could do a very nice set-up with cardinals/neons a pair of blue rams.. or appistos or something akin.. and you can really "monster it up" by going with a big school.

Salvini would be a great aggressive cichlid to house in that tank!
