Brycon sp.

"Equadorian Barracuda"

why would you buy a fish without knowing anything about it? Research first. Try the other characins section, or use Google.

Google Brycon Dentex or something like that. Scrappy lil fellas. Fiesty. Get a foot or a lil more. Likely shred tankmates.

yea prob a brycon, if look up dentex, theres a post on there with very similar looking fish.

could it be some kind of Oligsarcus?

Although the Dorado is more sought after and costs more, these fish are more colorful when they get bigger. There's a store nearby that has a 12incher with a golden body, red fins and the tail fin is tricolor.

Don't know if I'd agree with that. Once the Dorado get up around the 20 inch mark they are pretty amazing looking. We need pics then we can all decide!!!! :D

Thats cool, just my opinion,I have a young dorado and have seen plenty of good pictures of fully grown and colored adults with all that intense yellow contrasting with their chainmail looking silver scales. They are beautiful brutes. This brycon is something else with all of those different colors going on though.
