So last night I noticed what I thought/still might be ich on my GT (small white specs on the fins and a light "fuzzy" cotton like growth) also the fish has been scratching himself on the gravel lately, so I added super ick cure (at half dose because it shares a tank with a bichir) and this morning I noticed that the fish has even more cotton like growth (its all at the end of its body). It's also swimming less, mainly sits at the bottom swimming around every 5 mins. I don't think its ich anymore and might just be a fungus. I've upped the temp to 82 def from 78-79ish and have the super ick running through (carbon taken out of the filter of course). Any suggestions what I should do?

Edit: This all has happened within the last 4 days

salt works well.... also mardell makes some wonderful meds for fungus.... i would just add salt though

and waterchanges

is the whole acting lethargic thing normal or is that most likely from the meds?

And as for water changes I did one 2 days ago. I do one every 4 days or so. I think I'm gonna do another one after the ich med treatment first.

why did you treat for ich if its fungus???

I thought it was ich last night because it was still just white specs, this morning when I woke up it turned into a cotton like growth and realized it was fungus. Honestly I'm not sure because he has white specs on his fins but then again he has that cotton growth on his tail??????

fungus could be secondary to bacterial infection
i've heard of applying betadine topically with a q-tip helps stops fungus instead of treating your whole tank or moving to a q-tank.
Also in the photos it looks like his fins are clamped down.
Dose he always look like this?
If so he might have a systemic bacterial infection.

Wow I totally didn't even know we had a Fish Disease and Health subforum. Thanks for whoever moved it!

His fins have been clamped maybe 75% of the time. When he's swimming around it opens up then clamps when he sits. Do you think its a systematic bacterial infec. ?

IMO-Yes.
And IMO I would start with the basic treatment regiment...
First do a water change and add carbon to get rid of the Ich Meds.
Then remove carbon
add aquarium salt
up the temp
Add Primafix and melafix
