I just setup my first sump, got the pump and everything going. It was all working fine for about 2 minutes... Basically my water isn't draining fast enough, the pump is now sucking in air and water because there is not enough water ... any tricks to make my water drain faster?

Shut the pump off and let everything equalize...Make sure your sump is full.
(simulate a power off situation) restart the pump, and see if that does it...

As mentioned above, you might have a pump that has too much gph for your overflow(s)...there really insn't a way to increase the amount of water overflowing the tank, other than adding another one.
You can, however, use a valve to slow the pump down from returning so much water to the tank...

What is best, is to list the gear you have and post some pics, so that we can see what we are working with...

What kind of overflow are you using, what size is the overflow and how many gph is the pump?

My tank is drilled, my pump is the MagDrive 12

I turned it off and let the sump fill, but once I start the pump again it just drains it all>>>

What size bulkheads and how many? If I were you I'd pick up a ball valve and place it inline after the pump, you can partially close it until the flow rate is the same.

WHile it is draining the sump, is there any water flow back into the sump? You could just need to add more water. Probably not though...just a thought

Edit/ I just read it was running for about 2 minutes... nevermind.

2x1" bulkheads, I think I need a ball valve
