I have 2 automatic light switches underneath my aquarium stand. There's one on each side that triggers a single light fixture to come on when one of the doors open. The wires are a mess and I'm trying to figure out how to re install them. Is anyone here familiar with these? I've looked everywhere online and I can't find any wiring diagrams for these switches. Your help is greatly appreciated! Here's a pic of the automatic light switch...

Try searching for wiring diagrams for normally open/normally closed switches. The wiring should be very basic as the switch just operates off of a pushbutton. When the door is closed then the button is depressed which opens the switch cutting the current to the light source. When you open the door the switch closes turning the light on. A refrigerator light works exactly the same way.

Yep, should be pretty basic. Most switches are basically in-line with the Hot wire.

You have a part number for that or a source? I could draw something up for you.

I tossed together a diagram. I believe this is what you have. Opening the door closes the switch and closing the door opens it like Inglorious said.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm still at work so I'm going to mess around with it tonight and see if I can get it wired back up. The tricky part is the wires aren't color coded or anything which makes it hard to tell which wires are hot. The plug that goes into the wall is split too which makes it even more confusing. Here's a pic of the plug I took yesterday with my phone while I was inside my stand...

The brown wires were going to one of the switches. The white wires are going to the light fixture and the other white wires are going to a wall plug.

The two brown going to one switch have to hook to the other switch just like the drawing I made. Two switches hooked in parallel.

I think I get it now.

The 2 wires from switch #1 goes to switch #2 (hot goes to hot, neutral goes to neutral).
The 2 brown wires from the pic above goes to either one of the switches.

Seems pretty simple if I'm understanding it correctly. I wanted to ask just to be sure. Will let you guys/gals know what happens tonight if I don't get electrocuted and die.

Your getting confused with Hot and neutral........... I made Pink Hot in the picture and Green neutral. This should clear things up ... :)
