Need help with a fish I.D....What is this ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I still think its a denison barb, maybe if there was a better picture of it I could be sure as to whether or not I am right, but from the looks of it I can guarantee you it is a denison barb. There is no freshwater shark with the looks of that fish.
i disagree the tail is red and the roseline tail doesnt have red in it. its much darker also probly is related but if not a roseline barb

The fish appears to be Cyclocheilichtys janthochir. They like soft water and are fairly adaptable to pH up to about 7.8
The will max out at about 10" and are quite peaceful.
They are a shoaling fish so they will do better in groups of 4 or more.

Nice, never seen or heard of that fish species...

You made the I.D. on it...THANKS!!!

I never saw them or heard of them before. I got 3 of them and they were sold as red bala sharks. I also have 3 bala sharks as well. Its cool how they all intermingle.

I just hope they do get to a solid 10 or maybe 12 inches...My 2.5 inch orino peacock bass will be a 2 ft monster some day and I hope they don't get eaten.
