I did this for one of my college english papers lol I wrote about the endagerment of releasing captive exotics into native waters and its effects. I took arguments from the people who think "oh they are just fish no harm" and from the side of "they eat this, they eat that, destroys native food supply etc.." I got an A on it =)

I would do the paper on Snakeheads. And the effect it has had on our hobby and the environment. Why they should be legal again and why they should not. The main point being the undereducated fish keeper letting it go into a local pond or river. Then you could tie pacus as well as pirahna, p-bass, cichlids into the paper but keep the main subject snakeheads. Everyone has heard of that.

Do one on hybridization of fish. That's a hot topic with most people in the fish community it seems.

I had to do two of those kinds of papers, one in high school and another for a college English class. I didn't turn in the high school one (blew off most of my Junior year) but got an A+ for the college one!

The hybridization of Fish sounds like a good Topic. You can even go into those "Glow-Fish" and ethics of the science community to their "playing around with mother nature."

Invasive species covers a wide range that includes all spectrums from plants, fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. I wrote a term paper for a Humans and environment class. The paper was suppose to be 3 pages long, I requested to add some pages to it, upon completion the paper was over 50 pages long and about 100 sources. I had only touch on a few of the Invasive Species out there. I still continue to work on it as I hope to use it as a basis for my graduate thesis. Impress your instructor with facts like the common carp is an invasive specie brought to the US by early European immigrants. Or that Purple Loosestrife came from Eurasia in the 1800's for medical and ornamental uses. The best one is that American colonists brought dandelions from Europe for ornamental purposes. You may even find some species that are thought to be native that aren't. Good-luck with your paper.

the thing is that the paper is jsut based on your position on it, you arent suppose to research it and cite souces or stuff like that its suppose to be a thesis, and 3 (or more) supporting details.

ive got it narrowed down to releasing pet fish into natural water ways and drop eye in the silver arawana

the second one is controversial no?

I'd go with releasing aquarium fish.Seems like something people not associated w/the hobby could more easily relate to.

I did a government paper in high school about the overfishing of sharks in American waters, I got an "A" on it. Yours dosen't have to be on sharks but its just an idea. You can do one on the ethics of collecting wild caught fish for the trade, or wild marine species.

i would go with your first topic mike...sesms more relatable

another topic not mentioned would be putting tats on fish....
