thanks but im not sure what an AC and all that is lol. i actually used to have a 55 gallon that i took care of myself. only problem i ever had with it was evaporation. i had 2 monster goldfish, a 14 inch pleco, an 8 inch pleco, and other peaceful fish that i dont know the names of. i was only 10 when i had that one. now i want another one. i am going to probably get a few electric blues. btw does anyone know how much the electric blues usually sell for?

When you say Electric Blue, are you talking about an Electric Blue Johanni? If so Juvinilles (they are actually orange when Juvie) are from $3-5, an adult is probably around $7-10....
Read about cycling your tank before you put your fish in.....FYI

Yeah you have tons of media capacity over any HOB with any canister. Also canisters dont need to have high gph because of the amount of media. but to each their own.

I had a 65 gal tank i used 2 ac 110 kept tank clear and quiet easy to clean...got on line good from thatpet.com ....good luck

ok i have decided to just get one AC 110. i used to have an AC mini on a ten gallon and it worked great! but i know they come with foam blocks and carbon but what else should i put in there (the filter) to help cycle the tank and to keep it clean?

I like to put in a couple of scoops of gravel from a healthy established tank. Also some media from a healthy tanks filter. I've used sponges from fluvals and AC's before. I just set them in the new tank right by the intake of the new filter.

how many gallons per hour do you reccomend for a tank that holds 50-55 gallons. it will have 3 or 4 cichlids in it and the water will need to be crystal clear.

400 gph or better:)

thanks that works short and to the point lol. whats the gph for the AC 110? since two of them will cost like 70-80 dollars is there a canister filter that i can get for about that much that pumps 400 gph or more?

AC110 500 GPH. I've modified mine a bit. Took out the ceramic and added a second sponge with floss between the two sponges. I also put a mag 5 pump prefilter sponge on the intake. Works great.
