My tank is drilled with 1 5/8 hole and 1 /3/8 hole. Listed on the bottom are the bulk head sizes i found to fit the hole. Let me know if im correct or wrong. Thanks

1'' slip 3/4 bulk head

What about the 1 5/8 hole? Also whats the difference in double threaded bulk head and a reg bulk head?

Can someone just list what size bulkhead i need to buy and whats the difference in double threaded bulk heads.

Should i go with double thread or thread and slip or slip slip? Need tips before i buy bulk heads. Thanks

Ok im thinking about going slip and slip and using silicone sealant so i can change the piping in the future if i have to. What do you guys think?

There are slip/slip; slip/threaded; threaded/threaded and threaded/slip bulkheads.

On the right is a slip/slip, and on the left is a slip/threaded bulkhead

You choose the type of bulkhead based on what you are connecting to it. If you are just connecting a PVC pipe to the bulkhead, slip/slip is the easiest way. If you get a slip/threaded bulkhead and are connecting a PVC pipe to it, you would have to get a male connector for the PVC.

In this picture besides the slip/threaded and slip/slip bulkheads are a male and a female connector.

Say for instance, you wanted to plumb in a threaded uptake such as one of these in the bottom right corner of this picture, but you wanted the uptake 6" below the water line.

You would take a short PVC and slip it in place in the bulkhead (with PVC cement, of course). On the other end of the PVC you would have to cement a female connector. The threaded uptake is then screwed into the connector. Threaded bulkheads and connectors have the advantage that things can be unscrewed and removed. Slip fittings basically have to be cut off to be removed. So if you want to be able to remove things, threaded fittings and bulkheads would be the way to go.
