need help with first piece of driftwood

I just got my first piece of wood, and i need help sinking it. Can i use a slap of poured concrete? that is all they have at home depot.. Let me know

attach a rock to it. or if you can wait submerse it in water till it sinks..

will concrete be bad for the water. I have seen people post topics about using quickcrete to make backgrounds. Let me know im dying to use this wood

It will raise the ph past 8.5 if its new.. it would be easier to attach a rock to it by fishing line etc. and let it water log itself.

or you could also drill a piece of slate to it useing an aluminum screw and just cover up the slate with gravel in your tank so its not noticeable
