Im planning on buying a 20 gallon next week. Do they make a 20 wide i would like that if they did? What kinda fish do u think I should put in there? i plan on making it a planted tank with drift wood and some rocks. I want the most fish i could possibly have in there with out making my fish uncomfortable. I want my tank to thrive and be alive and happy. any ideas would help.

you could do a breeding pair of convicts in a 20 long

i also heard that convicts tend to dig up plants. but i do appreciate the help just curious new to the hobby and like i said i want me and my fish to be happy

for breeding purposes convicts would do well in a 20g long for a very long time

other possibilities, you could do a shoal of several serpae tetras or a cory community.

also what kind of fish do well with plants and other fish. at first i was thinking about getting some rare fancy guppies like 4, then like a betta, and maybe some tettra's like 4, and 4 clown loaches and a small bichir or two. but not sure if thats to many or not.

Get a polypterus senegalus.. those will do well for a while in a 20L. I have one right now in just a regular 20. Will have to get a larger tank some time soon.

I would avoid convicts as though a 20g can hold them the parents with the addition of their fry would become quite crowded, not to mention that unless you have a way to get rid of them you would be stuck with a bunch of convict fry. I would aim for a community setup, if you get a 20gL perhaps try to replicate a stream with a small powerhead and large smooth rocks positioned around the tank. For stocking perhaps try some White Cloud mountain minnows and hillstream loaches, something along those lines.
