also what kind of fish do well with plants and other fish. at first i was thinking about getting some rare fancy guppies like 4, then like a betta, and maybe some tettra's like 4, and 4 clown loaches and a small bichir or two. but not sure if thats to many or not.

I am not sure about the Bichir I dont know how large smaller varieties get?

As for the clown loaches a 20 gallon tank is not close to large enough unfortunately. Personally I would not put them in anything less than 80 though I have seen them in 55 gallon tanks and seemed to work.

As for the bettas I never kept one with guppies, but have heard that the betta will often mistake fancy guppies for another betta and become aggresive towards it. If you looking to put them together I would at least try it out with a common/cheap male guppy before you put anything rare in there with it.

All bettas are different, some males can successfully move into a community tank, but most will either be aggressive or stressed. I would also be concerned by the current produced with the filter, Bettas are not the strongest of swimmers and their dorsal would literally be a sail.

Female bettas on the other hand may be able to be introduced, just keep them in a group of 3 or more.

I like idea about the shoal of corydora, tough little guys. Good luck!

well i might be moving soon so i might get my 125 but not sure if i will have enough room. but ty for all the advice
