Need help with my Arowana. Urgent.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Aerowanas can get very skittish and if startled can freak out. I would uncover the tank so it can get used to its surroundings.

I have an arrowana that shows a similar temperament. Dim night lighting if you have the option. I would also slowly uncover the tank, needs to be okay with outside stimuli again. Oh, I also noticed fast movements can cause a freak out, slow and steady.
Maybe I should just turn off the light at night instead. Then I'l just remove the cover. Di you think the scale grow back as on how it was used to be? Thanks for the advice! Im just worried about his behaviour lately

How big is your specimen? I think we might have found your problem. Tank might be small. I have a 200 gallon and I think thats bare minimum for an adult arowana.
Well its just about 9-10 inch rtg. I just got it 3 months ago at around 6 inches. I just used my old tank but Im planning to get a bigger one after 6 months.

Oh okay someone had a 16" in a 20 gallon on here thats why I asked. I did have a 5 inch one a month or two ago and he would get freaked out the second I would turn on the lights. He ended up getting eating alive he jumped a divider and my breeding pair of cichlids killed him.

The 16" on a 20gallon tank is terrible. Sad to hear about your 5 inch. How big is your cichlids?

My 6" Lei (started at around 4") is still skittish. He freaks out more when kids come around. I figured he needs to get use to the family, so better start now...just need to survive. I think they are generally skittish and it's not necessarily tank size.
