my flowerhorn turns dark too its always next to the heater or the filter. since its small it looks like a convict ciclid. almost looks like its gasping for air. but when theres food its very active and hyper.

darkening is the usual behavior of a flowerhorn in a new environment. hahaha. he was just not used to what he sees. it'll be back, dont worry. Make sure that the environment is bright enough.
