good day everyone. i have 5 motoro pups which measure about 4 to 5 inches disc diameter in a 100 gallon tank which later on will be moved to my pond. parameters are ammo - 0 , nitrite - 0 , ph - 7.4 steady no swings , nitrate - 10 ppm. these guys are fed 2 times a day with deboned chopped fish fillets. this morning i gave them their regular meal and then i went out to take care of some stuff. when i came back home tonight with lights off. i noticed that 2 or 3 of them were lifting their discs near their tail. i read somewhere that discs should almost always be flat on the tanks surface. here is an attached photo. any help/opinion on what this could be or if it is normal or not, would be greatly appreciated. thanks much

oh and when you try to net them they swim away in a normal manner or as they did before this happened. am completely stumped as to what is happening. did a partial waterchange of 20 percent when i came home and saw this. and btw waterchange is done bi weekly 20 percent each waterchange.

thanks for the reply and info scott. i guess im just being paranoid. will keep you all posted regarding their condition

looks normal, just keep the lights off for a while to be sure.... also i would bump up the water changes to be safe

Do you have a lot of current that could be lifting the disc? As long as they are active and eating normally I would not worry. If they become sluggish and not eat normally or refuse food then there could be an issue.

lights are only turned on about 2 or 3 hours a day when im in the room looking at them. the rest of the time lights are off. about the water changes, you mean i should do 3 times a week or instead of 20 percent do a 30 to 40 percent. thanks for your inputs

i have a powerhead/wavemaker pointed towards the floor to blow up the debris towards the filter. will try turning that off now and see if it still happens. about being sluggish, last night when i came home i noticed that they were kinda sluggish and not swimming around that much. but when you nudge them with a net they would casually swim away. this is when i decided to do a water change. thanks for your inputs
