Step 1. Get rid of the fish
Step 2. Research
Step 3. Get fish that fit your tank (for life, not just currently)
Step 4. Enjoy!

There are a lot of great things about keeping fish, but you need to do your research first so you don't cause unnecessary hard.

:welcome: to MFK. Please be respectful and you'll do fine here...

Ok, If you're still in doubt about the cloudy water, here it goes:

-Cloudy green: Algae, move the tank away from windows, reduce lighting.
-Cloudy white: Bacterial bloom from your tank cycling, its normal, it will go away by itself. PLEASE LOOK UP CYCLING AN AQUARIUM THIS IS VITAL.
-Cloudy brown: rotting food, excess fish crap. Clean your aquarium, get rid of some fish.

you probably already know this, but you should do a WC at least once a week.

yeah my tank gets white cloudy. some guy at a fish retailer told me it could be from having my light on a lot. i did a 75% WC today and ive been doing them at least twice a week it gets cloudy pretty quick but i know it could be cycling but my underground water pipes were replace not too long ago and im getting sand for my new tank so its easier to clean up :)

I'm 92,3% sure thats bacterial bloom, that is the beneficial bacteria colonies growing in your tank. This is good.

By doing large WC, you're getting rid of a lot of bacteria, not giving them time to establish.

You must keep up the WC to control nitrate/ammonia, but smaller and more frequent as to not get rid of bacteria.

change 15-20% every other day, and the cloudiness will go away in a couple weeks, to avoid this from happening, do not wash your filter with tap water, use only tank water.

Now, do yourself a favor, and do a little research on cycling an aquarium, seriously, this is stuff you need to know to be successful in keeping fish.
