Need help with mystery fish ID

Thanks drey. It's grown some. Lighter in color now. I hope it's not a major jerk like I've read them to be. The fish has a lot of vigor.

Here's a shot of some true young synspillum, the name is considered now invalid (species synspillum is combined melanurum due to DNA testing result findings). And the name melanurum takes precedence because it was scientifically described in the year1862, synspillum not until 1935.

I had seen this but my 4" of each look nothing alike. So are they just considered different locale collections?
