Ok so someone I know didn’t want their two 8in Oscars I went and pick them up yesterday they seem to be in pretty bad shape. I have never had Oscars but he was just going to get rid of them and I could not let that happen. They are in a 55gal (I know this is too small but I don’t know if I can upgrade if not I will give one away) the water was poor pH 6 ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate where all high and I think they have hole in head. What should I do?

Oh and i will try to post some pics soon

Ok now that we can actually see what you wrote.......

For now just let them get comfortable in their new home and feed them quality pellet food. See how things go from there.

Filtration must be very high. Add metradonzile. (Spelling not correct) to help with the Hexamita (Hole in the head). Add 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon of water and do 50% water changes 2x p/week. Raise temp to 82F.

If they get too bad, consider euthanasia.

Mystix, are you sure about the salt equation? That seems like too much.

I would limit that to 1 tbs. per 5 gallons max.

ok right if you want to sort out that HITH i would suggest and a lot of water changes also apparently AQUARIUM salt is supposed to help, also i think to keep them as least strested as possible will help,, keep us informed on how things are going.
