Need help with Oscars

how much should i feed them? I have Hikari Cichlid Gold is that a good brand?

Hikari Gold is fine for them but you should give them more variety in their diet. Just one kind of fish food most likely won't provide them with a balanced enough diet. Oscars will always beg for food even when full so only feed them what they can scarf down in about a minute or so twice a day. Some will say once a day but with Oscars you have to keep them happy or they'll sulk.

Hopefully you will take better care of them then the person who owned them before, or else realisticly you have done nothing to help them. for a 55g go crazy on the filtration and then go a little more! change the water at least twice a week and as they get bigger you are gonna have to get something larger or get rid of one. again if you cant do this then you are not helping there situation in anyway.

Make sure to keep nitrates less than 20 ppm. Soak their pellets in a vitamin supplement. Carbon has been implicated in HITH, so I'd remove any carbon from the filters.

yeh thats fine, although as suggested soak them.
