If you want to make sure the pleco is eating, you'll have to do a lot of work at first. First, try to fill up the RTC with bulky food, large pieces of shrimp, fish, or whatever you can get your hands on. After the RTC's fed with a round tummy, then try to feed bloodworms to the pleco. Will have to do this for a few days, perhaps feeding the larger food pieces to RTC couple times a day, so he'd leave the bloodworms alone throughout the night. Once the pleco start taking bloodworms and is more active, then offer both bloodworms and wafers. If the pleco goes after the algae wafers, then you can wean off the bloodworms and start on the veggies. That's when you don't have to worry about the RTC fighting him over his food.
or you can always fish out the RTC, clean, dip in batter, and deep fry. J/k of course
