i found him by my house, i had one for like a week before but i forget what do they eat. also do turtles hibernate becase it get pretty cold here.:)

You found him on land by your house? If so it's not a him but a her looking for a place to lay eggs. Softshells rarely leave the water at all except to lay eggs and maybe bask. They really aren't the best turtle to keep as a pet because the require a very large enclosure. It would probably be best if you release him/her where you found it.

srry about that i need to be more pacific. its only a baby about 1.5in long, there a creek behide my house but its pullute so i don't know if it came from there and also i'm building a pond for my fish(natives) can i put him in there as long as i have land and basking spots. what should i feed him also.

also there is pond about 2.3 miles away from me at the entrance of my developent. do you think he had some how mange to get up here

I'm thinking then that this guy just hatched. Can you get a picture of him? Some species of softshells prefer rivers while other species keep to lakes and ponds with sandy bottoms. If you're from Georgia then it is either a Florida Softshell or Gulf Coast Spiny Softshell.

If you plan on releasing him I would go with the pond in your development. If you decide to keep him in your pond, keep in mind they get quite large and will eat your fish. For now you can give him aquatic insects, earthworms, raw fish, Reptamin pellets and young fish.

realy he could eat my fish. i going to have 1-2 muskie and mabey some bass and catfish

They are fish eaters. He might not be able to kill them, but he will be able to leave some nasty wounds. This all depends on how small the pond is you're keeping him in. At this stage, a bass could easily eat a baby softshell.

well the pond isn't buildt yet but in about 6 months. the pond will be 12x12x4-6deep or 12x10x4-6deep.

oh yea and about pics i don't know how to i wish i could would solve many of my questions

ok i just found out it is a Gulf Coast Spiny Softshell. so i don't know if this helps but that is what it is.
