hi, anyway, playing with different ideas before deciding on which stand i eventually. the tank dimentions are 5'x3'(wide)x2'. 200gals. i will use cinder blocks for a stand. it's waterproof right? the "stand" would be 2' high. my question is, will it topple? it looks flimsy to me.

Are you in an earthquake area? The stand wont topple unless something pushes it... like a moderate earthquake.

Personally I prefer solid wood with plywood bracing.

Why would someone push it? Blocks sounds ok, are you doing it for the look? I guess I always go with wood, but that's because its easy and proven. Maybe you could use some sort of adhesive to hold the blocks together? I'm not sure what, but maybe even a caulk of some sort.

it wont topple, remember your going to have 2000lbs+ holding it down.
i would be more worried about the glass breaking then it falling over if someone/something were to fall into it.
are you going to put a sheet of plywood inbetween the blocks and your tank? i'd recommend it.

thanks. i might, but was thinking of styrofoam instead of plywood. would it work?

ply would at least give a bit of stability across the areas where there is no blocks.
as for the styro, there is a mixed opinion about it.
some people swear by it others hate it.
personally i dont use it but thats just me

hmm that's interesting. i'm new, do you mind explaining why some swear by it and others hate it.
