Where can i find fine white sand in SOCAL and how fine should it be for Oscars home.

You don't necessarily need sand as substrate for Oscars. You can use any kind of substrate for Oscars.

As for white sand well try Pet Kingdom SD Cali.

If you interesting in sand than the cheapest sand to use is from Home Depot, Playground Sand cost around 5 bucks for 50lb, you have to rinse until it clean though but it's white sand.

Have you considered, pool filter sand? $8/40lb at pool supply stores

+2 on the pool filter sand, easy to get at any pool supply store and heavy enough not to make a mess when performing regular husbandry.

Another vote for pool filter sand. It's what I use for my Geo's

You can get white pool filter sand and it is very cheep at places like HomeDepot
