i dont know if its the gravel and the lights because they are old whites and two powerglo light. or the window.

If it's only 2 days old, maybe the filter isn't ready to support fish yet. When I got a new filter for my tank, the water clouded up quickly, and I lost a couple fish. The gravel might be the cause aswell. Esspecially if it is plant substrate. It took a week for my water to get clear after I put the substrate in. What I recommend is to take the fish out, and wait a while for it to clear up. If it doesn't, get a new filter. In the first piture you showed, that water wasn't clear either. Don't add fish for at least a week after you get the aquarium. This helps you figure out what's wrong with it.

Hi anhwheeler,

How long did it take to cycle the tank?

How did you cycle the tank?

What are the tank parameters now?

As it stands right now it looks like an uncycled tank or a crashed filter (same thing in the greater order of things).

Are there fish in there? You need a Master Test Kit & start testing for ammonia, nitrites (both should be 0 at all times--very toxic!), nitrates (should be <20) & pH (neutral is ~7.2). Do huge water changes (up to 80% daily), until you get those readings. You can also add Bio-Spira to instant-cycle the tank. Add it to your filter, after a 90% WC. Be sure you get it from a reputable store that has been keeping it in the refrigerator.

its not crashing or anything like that and it was up and runing for awhile before i put the fish in. it has 2 filters a whisper 60 and a in tank filter a cascade something its rated for a 55gallon tank so i know theres enough filtration. bt my 75 has never did that it is running on a whisper 60 and never had an issue.

Atthis point, your tank is not cycled. Please post your water parameters, as I mentioned above.

In the first post you said it was only 2 days old? is that right?

1) It looks for sure like the tanks not cycled but we need to know the chemistry to help you.

2) Could be an algae bloom. If you feel it is this, cover the tank for 4 days so no light can get in and reduce feeding.

If it's a cycling problem, "huge water changes" will only prolong the problem as your removing the nutrients the bacteria need to grow. 80-90% W/C's should almost never be done (except for contamination) this could cause a filter crash.

BIO-Spira does not do an "instant-cycle" it will take at least 2 days for the bacteria to grow enough to be productive.

"Be sure you get it from a reputable store that has been keeping it in the refrigerator" I couldn't agree more! And get it home quickly too.
