Need help with Tigrinus ph!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
something tells me your test is bad.... if your doing RO and you don't see your pH drop then somethings wrong with your RO unit. replace the filter or stop useing the second tube.... thats bad water. Also if your RO was changeing the water and your test isn't changing if your RO was working properly your hardness would be like solid rock..... :naughty:

Thats what i was thinking too.. Thanks Waldo.. A RO unit should significantly bring your PH down. Or maybe theres something wrong with the RO unit itself. ( oh you already wrote that down. )

RTF also wrote that stabelizing your pH was a lot more important then loweing it. I TOTALLY agree with that. I own a business exporting fish out of peru and I preach that to everyone. You should lower your pH in the beggining in you tank, however I'm not to big on the drip with these animals ESPECIALLY when your tanks going to have that hard of water.... why?
Hard water raises the toxicity of the ammonia in the bag. So does raising the temp. here

Table 1. Un-ionized NH3 as a percent of total ammonia (by temperature and pH). Percent NH3 of total ammonia
Temp (F) pH 6.5 pH 7.0 pH 7.5 pH 8.0 pH 8.5
68 .13 .40 1.24 8.82 11.2
77 .18 .57 1.77 5.38 15.3
82 .22 .70 2.17 6.56 18.2
86 .26 .80 2.48 7.46 20.3
you can see what I'm talking about. Use amquel and Prime when you get him in and throw a cup of water into his bag. then put him in your tank and out of the ammonia.
