I can't figure out what's wrong with my P-Bass. I was fine, then all of a sudden it's laying on the bottom and breathing short and quick, his gill plates aren't moving, just his mouth, there is no bodily damage or fungus on the outside so it has to be something internaly. His diet has been just swordtails. He's been like this for 3 days now, and now he is starting to lay up side down. Anyone know what's wrong or if i can still save him he's about 7 inches now, i've had him since he was 3 inches. :help2:

The first thing i did was a water change about 40% wasn't quite 50%. I didn't check the water though. My water is crystal clear, I have a 75gal, with a AC110, Ehiem 2026, and a 9W Turbo Twist filtering the tank. I have a Oscar about 9inches and a Clownknife that is 12 inches, and they all seem fine.

mahalo for everyones help!

yeah the same happend to me because the water wasway off

Was your fish ok after you changed your water? I threw in a crayfish just before this all happened and i'm wondering if he ate it and is having a hard time digesting it, then again i don't know which of my three fishes in that tank ate the crayfish. He just looks like he is having a hard time breathing or his gill plates is stiff...

He might have caught internal parasites. Might have ate a bad fish...if hes laying belly up hes probably allready toast :(:(:(. If your other fish are fine then it probably is not your water but I would test it and make sure its good. If your water is fine then he just got sick, unfortunatly it happens sometimes.
