You said she laid eggs.. That's 100% a female then. From those pictures though it didn't look like eggs but if you're 100% they're eggs it's a female.
That is how my male died.... I didn't catch it in time.
What you can do is right when she dropped her tube let the male out. The pheromones in water will tell the flowerhorn to get busy...lol after he does his thing with her which can take a while watch out for the mother fanning eggs. If she starts to fan her eggs divide the male. You can either leave the eggs with her ( she might eat them) or put them in your tank. make sure you have aeration in the tank fungus will grow on the ones with less air flow and the ones the male didn't fertilize.
Nice to hear !!! Waiting for the turn...till now she is active and eating like as usual but i could see her tube dropped bu no eggs till now..If she do so i could introduce my Short body to her and let them have some fun/fight and later i would remove my female rather than my male since she is eating all her eggs...
The male can eat them too. Get a tank just for fry. Also if hes a shortbody the female might not like him. Usually females need to be smaller or comparable sizes. They do courtship and if she is the dominant well they won't pair off.
Am having 3 males but just not to her size she is the larger one ,since i just wanna try with short body i let him to pair .Ya am having a breeder tank so no issues i can transfer the fries if they hatched or if she lay eggs those things need to happen to care for the future...
