Spotted this fish mixed with green terrors at a lfs. I'm pretty sure it is a Dovii but I have never kept them this small so i am not 100% sure.

Any way to sex this early as well?

Really hard to get good pics.. 20200821_211450.jpg20200821_211436.jpg

Does not look dovii to me. I don't remember seeing red stripe along the top fins on juvy doviis. Also face slope is different. I might be wrong but how big is it?

I personally think this guy might actually be a Chiapaheros Grammodes. Often called a Minni Dovii or Sieve cichlid. Here's a pic of one from Google for comparison.

I agree with Magnus might be grammodes
Nilsafeller Nilsafeller thoughts?
I'd say no on the grammodes... I dont see any worm lines on the face... even my little female (1 inch) when I got her had pretty distinctive worm lines but the OP pic is a bit blurry. Looks like def some dovii in there but may be hybrid? ?‍♂️ best I can do

Try and get a close up like this if u can.. clearer pic would help us ID

Edit... black mark under eye seems dovii to me too... maybe someone can chime in on that.. not sure if that means anything.. grammodes all I've seen never have that mark

Nice looking fish ya have there. If ya don't mind me asking what is that one that's half hidden behind the red Texas in the 3rd pic? Almost has the same coloration as a male bluegill but something tells me that it's a veija of some kind.

Those that are not doviis are all red Texas or unfaded red Texas.
