I'm thinking Panther (P. pictus aka Madagascar ground gecko)

You're right, the skin texture isn't right. A lot of young pictus have that pattern, but the skin is too smooth

no frog eyeds are diff color and have claws and a different head
 
Hey guys, thanks for the inputs. I got the gecko ID'd by a friend of mine, its a Geckoella nubulosa, apparently quite rare. It is native around here, this guy was brought to me by a friend who found it on his farm. Was about to be eaten by a cat! :O
