The first thing that came to mind is pterygoplichthys gibbiceps but the markings in the tail are off. I want to say it is in the pterygoplichthys genus as their marking are more vibrant the Hypostumus but looking on planet catfish, the pattern on the tail are off. Maybe someone else will chime in. I wanna guess that it is either an unidentified species in the pterygoplichthys sp. or it is a hybrid.

Not an L-01 or P.Joselima as this pleco has a honeycomb patern and L-01s have spots all through out there body.

really? it's kinda more leopard sailfin pleco, just like cmsbthebest said, but the tail is different. :L i bought it for about 2$ actually, at about 2 inches.

um... I guess I'll say it. Please read up on plecos before you buy anymore. They are very hardy fish, and the only reason you "go through" them should be selling it due it overgrowing your tank. Most plecos will grow big, some faster than others.

You don't treat your pleco like a disposable item just because it's a $2 fish. You don't expect your plecos to live long by expecting them to clean your tank or trying to sustain them by feeding them floating fish food and watching them come up to eat. This pleco forum is a subforum of "bottom dwellers", plecos are bottom dwellers, it's unnatural for them to HAVE to go up to the surface to eat. When they do that, they are pretty much starving and have no other choice.

You don't do this to a $2 common pleco, a $50 L18 golden nugget, or a $300 L25 scarlet. I know I sound like a di*k, but I've tried to tell you in other threads. It's perfectly ok not to know about plecos and ask as many questions as you can. That's what discussion forums are for. But I draw the line when people treat their fish as disposable fish just because they are cheap. If you "go through" certain fish, that means you are not providing the environment for them to survive in your tank, not to mention thrive.

OK! With the rant out of the way, here are some things about plecos that I hope you can read with open mind and remember.

* Plecos really are not the best choices for cleaning tanks, they produce more waste than they eat, polluting the tank water more, thus causing more algae. If you must use pleco for cleaning, bristlenose plecos are commonly viewed as better choices.

* Plecos are not born to be treated like a tool, a cleaner. They are just like any other fish in the world. They have environment needs, diet needs, personalities. "going through" plecos is like you going through your dear albino oscars. I am sure if your oscar keep dying, you'll want to find out why and fix the problem. Please to do so for ALL fish or pet you do.

* The plecos that you "pick out" in the lfs is usually commonly referred as common plecos. They are omnivores, and do need all types of food. You also do want to provide them with driftwood to hide and chew on.

* Some, many plecos are carnivores, they only eat meat. Most plecos won't clean tanks for you. Many fish will resort to eating anything in sight when they are starving to death, that does not mean they are doing ok with the diet you are providing them, or that they are cleaning your tank.

* Common plecos are a very poor choice for most community tanks. Most will reach 12" within a yr or so, and will keep growing to 18"+. They'll pretty much stop eating algae once they reach 9"+

You don't buy kittens and puppies, have them die on you and move on to the next one. You find out why the kitten or puppy died and do your best to correct the problem before buying another one. Please treat your plecos the same. Please do more research before buying another one. Please feel free to ask questions here and make sure you understand plecos before telling people that a meat eating $300 L25 scarlet pleco is a great tank cleaner.

Ok, end of rant......
