I've been looking for silver saums for a couple years now and have only ever seen gold saums for sale.

Today I found some juvie "Green Terrors" for sale, and they have silver tips on their fins, so I picked up three.

I've read that MFKers have purchased what they thought were silver saums, only to have them turn gold with more size.

Can anyone judge by my shibby picks and tell if these are true silver saums or perhaps 'true' GT's? Or are they juvie gold saums with no color yet?

The good news is that they are choking down pellets right out of the bag. :D

Thanks in advance for any help I can get... I really hope I have silver saums! :D

THanks! :D

Is there anything in particular that helps you discern whether these are silversaums or just juvie goldsaums with no color?

One thing I found after looking at the pics in detail is that there is an difference between the first five rows of iridescence, and the bottom half of the body. There's more space in the dorsal half, and the ventral half are more pressed together.

Also, the saums are iridescent the way any platinum fish is.

one thing that tells me there are silvers is there consistent silver on there fins and tail, and the colour is a deeper silver/white i can tell there actually saums for the obvious reasons but one you may not know, saums have the black spots TRUE GT dont.

Unbelievable, another 'True GT' vs. saum thread!

Actually, it's more of a silver saum vs. undeveloped gold saum thread.

I did ask if there is an off chance these lil ones were true gt's but I doubt it because of the saum thickness.

I don't like true gt's, I want silver saums

Seems like you can't discuss silver saums without "A". rivulatus being brought up
