need ideas for a new fish...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you get a Octopus you really have to seal that hole in the cover. They are excellent escape artists. Also they have a short life span. You want a fish with personality get a hawkfish. Dwarf lionfish are boring.

How about some kind of wrasse..?

craig, im deffo not getting an octo :) way too ££££ for me. if i had an suitable tank, a cuttlefish would be on the cards though... ive wanted a longnose hawkfish for ages, but have never been able to find one. i think it would be ok in my tank too. the biggest scientifically mesured wild specemin was just over 5", and fish usually stay smaller in aquaria.

weylin, i was thinking a 6 line. nice and easy to keep, stays small, accepts all manner of foods... very personable... its a definate possibility.

i tend to like oddball's more though. hence lionfish and puffers. that 6 line is tempting though...

the lfs near me has engineer gobies. but ive done my research, and it seems thay get too big for my tank, around 12". unusual fish though.

again what size is this tank? lol

dont know how to delete a double post ignore this one...

30Gal (36"x12"x18) minus rock ect.

running a canister with just sponge at the moment too. just to try it out.if i get a nitrite spike its coming out and the internal filter will go back in. so volume is up another couple of gal. and i will be adding the refugium soon too.

total water volume probably be around 35G. maybe slightly less.

i would think the engineers would be fine in there.. they get somewhat big but are pretty much going to stay in their burrows...

cardinalfish?
jawfish (duskies aren't exactly 'commonplace')
lined wrasses of course
grammistes blenny

any goby would be nice in there. Have you looked at the purple firefish yet. They add a splash of color and are easy to keep. Grammas are nice as well. IMO the sizline is a bit to active for a 30 gallon, but could be done.
