Hey everyone,

I am trying to stock a large pond/custom tank at work. I had someone donate two tiger shovelnose around 24". Because the cats are already decent size, my options for tankmates is obviously limited. I was thinking a group of maybe 3 - 6 large peacock bass would be cool. The catfish hanging on the bottom and the pbass up top, but I cannot find large peacocks widely available. The only real fish I can find in large supply of size are Dovii between 9 - 16".

I have a few leads on the pbass on the MFK marketplace, but I also needed 5 posts to PM. So also working on that atm.

The pond footprint is roughly 12' x 5'. I have a few people suggesting arowana or even apirama, but again need to make sure they are large.

+1 on the arowana, i think they look cool from above
maybe a redtail catfish. Always want to get one but gotta wait until im older and can afford to build something over a thousand gallons for it. I would say no on the apirama just because i think even 2000 gallons is too small for a fish that gets over 6 feet. I think some large oscars would be nice or some gars

People often have large pacu to give away, their body shape makes them hard to eat even at relatively small sizes.

Heated? Every time it gets about 50 degrees here, Pacu start floating, belly up in the canals. (South Florida) They would be a good candidate otherwise. They are large. They get HUGE and they're tough.

The tank is heated at 70 degrees. My primary concern with oscars is the possibility of the catfish swallowing them or choking to death attempting to do so.
