Need ideas for stocking a 2000 gallon pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The tank is heated at 70 degrees. My primary concern with oscars is the possibility of the catfish swallowing them or choking to death attempting to do so.

Doubt TSN will mess with the Oscar, as long as feedings are done properly. Get a ray :)

Oscars are chew toys for 24"+ tsn no matter how much u feed em...theyll be dead eventually even if they cant get em down. Tsn will pester oscars/bass until they jump out, get eaten, torn to shreds, or simply die from stress. If there free or donations u got nothing to lose, some may make it a while since u have alot of space. Also suggest getting aros alot larger than ur cats if u plan on aros. They fold in half quite nicely into a cat belly :). My 28-34" tsns have eaten 18-20" fish no prob, even other large tsn within minutes of introduction.

Rescue some pacus

How about some natives like sunfish, crappie, bluegill many others would fit but not sure if they would get caught/killed by TSN.I wonder if some strong hiding spots keep tankmates safe

Pacu are the "cavemen" of tropical fish. Tough and not very bright. But they DO eat anything you feed them and their size and shape makes them hard to eat.

yeah, i agree with arowanas, hundreds of guppies and rays as well as catfish. pick fish tht their colors can be seen from above unlike oscars.
