I bought a 4' x 7' x 1' acrylic tank for some stingrays. It came with a 72" x 24" x 19" sump. It was used in a saltwater setup and now i need to convert it into a wet/dry. Im just not sure how yet. As you can see the tank itself has a built in overflow, i was thinking i could fill that with bioballs and make some type of drip tray so water drips over the balls instead of just pouring on them, i was also thinking this is where the mechanical filter media could go as well. The tank has a 2" bulkhead in the overflow so i plan on plumbing that to the sump. I was thinking being theres already a set of baffles in the sump i can just put bioballs in there and they would be the "wet" part of of the wet/dry and have the overflow in the tank be the "dry" part.

Anyway heres a pic let me know what you guys think.

Good looking ray tank man! Pretty unique. Guessing it was probably used as a coral/frag display in some LFS or something? pretty cool. I'm pretty sure the sump will work out for you. Its just gonna be a hell of a lot of bio balls. What is that thing anyways like 180 gallon sump? Good luck with it! Post some pics as you work along with it. I am interested to see how it goes

hmmmm. Looks like you are going to have some fun! that will be some serious filtration if you load the right media and do it!

Looks good.

Very unique setup.

probally from my friend matt huh??? Iowa pet foods??? i told him that i wanted it too

I beleive it origanally came from there, i could be wrong. Then a guy in Waukee bought it for a frag tank in his garage/store. I bought it from some kid in DM for not even the price of the acrylic.
