I recently purchased two cichlids from my LFS. I was told they are African. Though they said they couldn't tell me what type because the buy them mixed. I found both together in the same tank. Look similar but different at the same time. They get along somewhat. Caught them jaw fighting once. Now they leave each other alone. The smaller of two is about4 inches, the other one has about 1/2 inch on him. They love to bicker with my three Rams, they only chase though. The fish that picks on them is my Rainbow Shark, he's about 3 1/2". Other then that they are a nice addition to my 55 gal.
They are both dark grey with black vertical strips big mouths as well. Black eyes-and white trim on caudal fin as well as dorsal fin. Very pretty fish. Understated but element. I'm soon moving all my fish from my main 55g to a 150g and need to know what they are if I'm to buy new fish. Right now they live with the fish I mentioned, 2 clown loaches, two angel fish,1 BGK fish ,a royal pleco,a clown pleco, and a rubber lip pleco,2 Corydora,a opaline gourami, and a blue gourami. You see why I'm giving them more space. Anyhow...thanks I hope to find the answer. BTW the close up fish is the smaller. stripes are a bit less noticeable. And white is much more prevalent, on this one. The bigger fish is camera shy I had to get out blood worms so exiting of the cave was possible. I'm sorry I wasn't able to have the fish stay still...I'll try to catch it off guard and post picture. If it's possible to tell me how to sex them as well or if you are able that's a huge bonus for me. Thanks again.
