I'm looking into buying a pair of these guys and would like some personal input/pics from people who've had them before. I've already checked web site information on these guys, but I prefer personal input and pics from people who've had experience with them. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

IME, they're not very aggressive despite the similarities in appearance with A. Trimaculatus. Not as easy to spawn as trimacs, at least for me. resemble festae in many ways… you'll see. Other than that don't know what to say. Great looking species!

ive heard if you love trimacs but cant house one then lyonsi are the next best thing. a mini trimac if you will. no actual experience with them though just what ive heard off a few people.

I have a group of 7 that I hope are getting ready to pair off. I second the comment about aggression - probably the lowest in this family. Which is why I found difficult to find adequate tankmates - too light for similar-sized centrals....too heavy for larger pearsi. A couple of smaller sized amps works best and helps deflect conspecific aggressing. Allowed space and dominance in their own territory, they color up and become a great looking fish. This was taken last week, only about 5-6":

I have 4...had 5 but my orante bicher decided to eat 1/2 of one. They are only about 2" and I have only had them a few months so I cant really comment too much. They seem to fight some with each other and kinda mess with the geo abalios (about the same size or a tad biger) that are in the tank with them. ITs not there perminet tank mates...just growing out until some other tanks are up and running.

I too am looking to get one or two soon and planned on putting them with a pearsei. Texguy are you saying from experiance this wouldent work. Sorry I'm not trying to hijack just looking for info as well. I will follow the thread please if anyone has any exp. post it up. Thanks.

Yes. It was more "feeding aggression" - the larger pearsi would not eat.

Alright well I wonder if I should try it and see, I have have several tanks the peasei could be moved to if need be. Thanks for the heads up on that though I will watch for it when I get my fish.

Baldtaxguy, those are some awesome looking Cichlids!!!! Thanks for all the input guys!!!!
