you have two male jack dempseys they are large enough to be sexed at that size, even if they were a pair, i dont know what you would be trying to accomplish with them in a 29 gallon tank, if your not gonna listen to our advice why ask for help?

2 males, lip locking is for dominance of the tank, even at small 3 to 4 inch jd's they will not be ok in the small tank, once one has dominance it will kill the other. Take them back save up get out on your feet and see if you will have the extra money to get a bigger tank, it's not going to be easy at first and will cost more then you think so don't say I'll get the tank later as you may not be able to afford it once you are on your own paying, rent, buying food (for you), phone bill, internet bill, electric bill, transportation to get to work etc. it adds up pretty fast.
