I'd really recommend returning the fish and getting something more appropriate for the tank, there are smaller knifefish species and such

You will need a 8×3x3 aquarium if you plan on keeping the Aro for life and thats minimal. Don't know how much new aquariums cost at that size but my guess will be $3000 or more.
how long could i keep the fish in the tank for? also could i keep just an Aro in the tank or the bgks with the eel?
Assuming the aro is the standard 5-6" baby you've got 3 months. Fire eel 6 months. You could keep one of the BGK solo in there for a little over a year if you have a slow grower. Unless you can talk your parents into an Intex pool in the basement a proper tank for an aro will be well north of 5k. Probably more given your lack of "understanding"
You can get a 300g stock tank for not so much at a farm supply store. That should last you a while.
