I plan to trade a couple I don't want today at the LFS. 4" Hap Moori and a 5" synodontis. Here is the challenge. The LFS is 4 hrs away!
So, how much water do I transport them in? I need suggestions on containers, too. Would be better with a lid....or suggest something to keep the water from splashing out. I have buckets up to 7 gallons...but no lids. Will cling wrap do the trick if buckets are the way to go?
I am leaving in a few hours, so your immediate input is appreciated!

Poly box? Like a plastic tote?
I guess what I am interested in is what volume of water do I need to safely transport them in from a perspective of oxygen needed?
In other words, if i put 3.5 gallons in the 7 gallon bucket, will that suffice for these 2. The catfish is an absolute pig, BTW.

Poly mean polystiren box. with regards to oxgen vs water i couldnt help. But when u buy fish from LSF they can normal last and hour or so give u some kind of idea if it helps.

This will be a 4 hr ride. OK on the polystyrene box. I have one in my shed.
Water in there directly? LIke I said, once I have an idea as to how much water to take, I can do a better job of container selection.
I think a 48 qt cooler would work, too

I purchased some African Peaocks from a LFS in NJ and drove back home to Maryland in about 3-4 hours with no problem. The LFS put oxygen in the bags for me and provided a styro box for them as well. They did put some extra water in the bags so that they could last longer.

Good Luck Dude!

I understand...However I do not have oxygen or big bags and thus my question!
Joisey, huh?

I see....

Ok, do it the old fashioned way. Go to Home Depot and buy a couple of buckets with lids and then if you don't already have one get yourself a battery operated air pump with line and stone. Try that. The lid should keep it from splashing in the car and the air pump will provide the air. Oh, don't forget batteries. You might have to buy to pumps or get a spliter.

Good luck

Personally if I had to drive that distance I would go out and by an one of those power outlet adaptors at like radio shack or wally world real quick and get a cheap small air pump...your talking like around 30 bucks...or if you have any baitshops around you, they normally sell huge minnow buckets for really cheap.
