Ok, do it the old fashioned way. Go to Home Depot and buy a couple of buckets with lids and then if you don't already have one get yourself a battery operated air pump with line and stone. Try that. The lid should keep it from splashing in the car and the air pump will provide the air. Oh, don't forget batteries. You might have to buy to pumps or get a spliter.

Good luck

you beat me to the punch lol...didn't think of the battery operated pumps tho

Yea, a friend of mine likes collecting in Miami so he does it all the time. And we're talking over 20 hours of driving, WOW!

The styro should be fine. I just sold a 20 in. arrowanna to a customer who had a 3 hr. drive. I just filled it up about half way (little more) Got a call back from him when he got home as he had questions about acclimating it. So if he was acclimating, he must have gotten it home without too much of an issue.

LFS 4hrs away? and i thought 30mins was such a long drive...

i had to quarantine an electric blue peacock and she has been in a bucket 1/2 full of water for 3 days now with only an air pump...been changing 50% of the water every night.

then again you probably made it to the LFS by now AND back LOL

Well here is how it went:
Got a 7 gallon bucket, filled it halfway and drove. No pump, no airstone, just fish bucket and water. Guess what? Fish made it just fine...no worries. I got $30 credit for that pig of a catfish and $20 credit for the hap Moori!!!
Yippee. Thanks for the input.
Yes I do drive 4 hrs. I live on the coast and there are no LFS in Corpus Christi that stock more than 2 or 3 varieties. So, next stop is Austin or San Antonio. IN this case, Austin, because I have to drive there to get my daughter monthly anyhow.
But soon, I will make a run over to Dave's Rare Fish as I am mighty curious about his operation.

If you put less water in and tie it shut full of room air it should work. I buy fish at auctions that are in the bags all day. Members here sell fish with little water and a lot of room air and have it last 2 days.
