So i was at the lfs yesterday and they have a tank labeled asst malawi, and they were on sale for 4.99 so i fugured id get at least one, its in a quarantine tank right now, if anyone could id it that would be sweet, thanx in advance.

couldnt get her to stay in one spot for a pic, watch in high quality.

im pretty sure it isnt a Melanochromis auratus, she was mostly blue with yellow stripes when i got her at the lfs, oppisite colors of the Melanochromis auratus, but im not sure

How big is it? Male Auratus get mostly blackish blue with yellow stripes as they mature.

Yours looks like a stressed out Male auratus, i could be wrong though.

well with the female auratus, there yellow with blue or black stripes, this one was blue with yellow stripes, i googled male auratus, but that doesnt look right either, even when shes not colored up like in the video.

Idonno then, maybe put up another vid or some pics tomorrow after its colored up.

Maybe Mike dunagan will chime in, he knows like every single rift lake cichlid there is lol.

Yes it is a male auratus not necessarily stressed just mood changes:chillpill:
