i'm going to make some more caves for my pleco and i'm wondering if slate with smoothed edges will work i'm going to use some tank sealent that wal mart sells to hold it to gether and i'm wondering if any of you have used it or if you recommend some other brand that a pet store might have:D

I think the smooth slate would be fine, don't know to much about the sealant you want to use tough.

duno about sealent but slate works great. you can use bamboo or pvc pipes to, but up to you on the size. i hope this may be in aid of breeding cave spawners?!?!?

i was pretty sure smoothed slate would work but i was thinking mybe sandstone would work if slate wouldent because its more formable:D

i like the second and fourth one. just so you know, a reasonably tight fitting cave on your pleco will be better. the caves i got are more like the second one, as in have little off tunnels of different sizes. you still gotta be careful your pleco doesnt get stuck, but a lot prefer tight space. good links honda. when i make a background (from the polystyrene and cement and what not, im guna try and hollow out a cave system in there, i think that will be awesome

Yeah a background with a cave system would be sweet.

Yeah, you could make a tight fit with the slate.
