My 125 growout tank is starting to get a little dirty as the fish get bigger. Right now I have 2 large severums, 2 5in jd's, a 6in belly crawler pike, a 3in jag, 4 5in tinfoil barbs, 2 3in silver dollars, a 2in brichardi, a 7in pleco and an 8in spotted bullhead. Filtration is a rena xp4 and a large HOT filter. I thought about taking off the HOT filter and adding another xp4. What do you guys recomend for more filtration?

Oh and my jd's are breeding, so the tank is divided half the time.

I'm not sure this si the time to be taking off a filter...

Adding another xp4 is an option... adding the larger FX5 is also an option...

What "large HOT" are you using? As not all HOT's are created equal...

i recommend the ac110 or the eneiem or how ever you spell it for one hundred then a sump with bio media and a filter bag

It's an emperor 400.

The reason im taking off the HOT is because im adding another tank beside it and the filter takes up to much space.

leave the hot and add another large canister or buy an fx5

So if I get an fx5, should I leave the hot?

you don't have to, but some of the old used media in the HOT should be transferred over to the new filter. if that's even possible, im not familiar with the HOT.
