Canada... i wish.
hey everyone my 100 gal tank (with the stock in my sig) is filtered by two eheim pro II 2028's and two maxi jet 900's for water circulation. lately i have to change my quilt batting every week or twice a week to keep my tank water clear...

what other kind of filtration can i add just for mechanical fultration.

thanks

From what I remember from when I had a couple oscars and started researching more into them is that, generally, 75 gallon for one oscar is a good rule of thumb, 125 gallons for two... I can't quite recall how much of that was due to their biological load and how much of it was due to their territorial sense of space, but looking at the long list of other fish in the 100 gallon tank, I'd have to think that you might be pushing the limits of overstocked, which is why you're having problems with filtration...

Maybe you could find ways to keep filtering, but what I'm surprised about is that your oscars haven't killed any of the other fish yet, especially after seeing mine do in some pacus that were bigger than them...

I'm not so informed though about the world of aquariums so take what I say with a grain of salt. Also, I love your oscars. The ones I had looked exactly the same as yours almost, one tiger and one albino, almost the same size even. :)

AC110s...Add a couple you can easily wash the sponge in hot tap water until clean every week during water changes. If you have gravel, extend the intake tubes within a couple of inches of the bottom. Make custom extensions with 1" UG filter lift tubes(check your LFS). With the addition of the AC110s you can move the intakes of your canister so they take in the least amount of particle debris, this will help keep them cleaner and doing a better job of biofiltration.

lol thanks. yea ima sell my balas hopefully soon. but my oscars are really passive. they were babies when i added em to the tank and all the other fish were almost full grown, so theyve learned not to touch any of the other fish in the tank :headbang2

x2 ac110 is excellent mechanical filtration. And no cartridges to change just wash the sponges :headbang2

I paid 70 (i know im a fool ) Ebay they are cheaper. But if you can find an old coupon you can have pet smart price match it. :) Good luck and you will love your new filter. And theres plenty of room for batting just remove the carbon after day 3 or so and add another slightly cut sponge the rest the bio on that. It worked for mine quite well my water is invisible with the help of an eheim canister :)
