im thinking that this may be the best option actually. should i be heating this water or just adding? cuz theres no hot/cold adjustment, and i think it just comes out of the faucet at around 65

No hot/cold adjustment? Man that really sucks...no wonder it's a pain for you. That is your bottleneck right there.
:(

Grab a small floating thermometer from the LFS. They are like 2-3 bucks. That helps me out a ton w/water changes.

Beforehand maybe you could boil some large rocks, get them nice and hot. Fill the 5gal bucket outside with the cold water, drop the rocks in there to heat it up? You could bring quite a few 5 gal buckets to 79 degrees with the same hot rocks I would think. Might make it easier on you?

Keep soft water Cichlids...

Drill two 1/4" holes in your wall, run up a drip tube with a 1/2gph dripper on it, adapted from a garden hose:

Then adapt the outlet (where it says "to drain") of one of these PVC contraptions to 1/4" tube and run it through the other hole to wherever you want. Install the aqualifter to suck air out of the siphons. I recommend using the raindrip 1/4" tube. It's very stiff so it's unlikely to collapse. Make sure to use elbows wherever you need a 90 degree bend so that it'll never kink.

i am almost positive your faucet has an aerator on it. the smooth part you see should screw off. then you need an adapter to screw in there like this.

get F. then a python and it should hook right up.

If I were you, I'd get some pH raising liquid and a 2-3 5gallon buckets and be done with.
well my pH is around 8.8, so it needs to be higher?
