I have a Blue dragon FH, for about 3.5 years now. over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that after he eats he kinda floats up to the top of the tank on his side??? never had this problem before, he is in a 120 wide with some other community fish, temp is great, water is good...kinda frustrating cuz it happened outa nowhere. he eats everything from Grand omega to aro stix and crickets. a pretty healthy diet...

he is also losing most of his vibrant colors, but he still has a huge water head...

any input would help....

Sounds like a swim bladder problem to me. He could be getting to much atmospheric air, while eating. Try a sinking pellet, and peas. You can just use thawed frozen peas or the ones in the can. I use the ones in the can, the peas will help his swim bladder heal. Good luck, keep us updated....

atmospheric air, thats what I was thinking but didnt know what to call it. I didnt want to come onto the forum with " I think my fish sucks too muck air when it eats" althought i think he does do that.

also I ran out of foof on friday, so yesterday I was watching him and he looked much healthier. Then I fed him and the same thing happened....

Yeah....Give the sinking and the peas a shot and let us know how it went. Always remember to feed a varied diet. The floating pellets are cool to use, but in addition to a properly balanced diet (just like us :))

I agree, if he looks fine when not going to the surface to feed, then that sounds likely. Floating pellets also have a little bit of air in them from what i've heard and that is why they float, maybe even less dense then sinking pellets, try either soaking the pellets before putting them in the water or sinking pellets

he has a mixed diet, such as pellets, stix, crickets, brine shrimp, market shrimp, krill...etc...

although, I admit due to busy sched, recently he is eating pellets about 60% of the time. will try the peas, and get some sinking pellets.

I also just noticed after he was fed, his abdoman looks a little swolen or bloated, nothing huge just a little...

pics to come, maybe that will help..thanks for all the help:)

They will not eat them if they do not want them. I hope you have a hospital. If not, let this be at least one of the reasons you get one....

Not sure what to do, I have been feeding peas, moved all other fish to a 55 gallon, bought sinking food.....Not working his condition is not improving ....but getting worse. He has lost almost all of his color and starting to freak out a bit....I dont want to lose him ....what to do???
